Background:
Archana Ganesan was also one among the many women in India, who have dreams to make it big in life, who want to sketch a distinct path for themselves in whatever they do, and to be one of the many achievers in their respective fields, who are determined to win come what may. Despite of having an excellent academic record, and being selected in one of the Premier most MBA Institutes in India, Archana’s family was monetarily short to fund her Post Graduation.
Archana had lost her father when she was just twelve, her family suffered a major setback, and her mother was the only source of income. The very little they could get, was enough only to run the family, and there were no savings. Though she was very determined to study further, being the eldest of the two, she had the responsibility to support the family and did not want to burden her mother more in the hour of crisis.
Her Story:
It was only at this juncture did she came across the Fair & Lovely Foundation's initiative to award scholarship to deserving women candidates, who wanted to pursue their goals further but unable to do so due to various constraints. It was indeed a dream come true for her and her family when she was awarded the scholarship. It was an honour to be among the very first batch of deserving women candidates to have received the prestigious scholarship. With the assistance, she was able to join college for her Post Graduate degree, and had also won the Gold Medal for the best project in the final year.
Current Scenario
She strongly believes that it is because of the extended support of Fair & Lovely Foundation she is placed successfully as a Manager in a leading Private Sector Bank. She owes it all to the foundation, and hopes that Fair and Lovely Foundation will continue to touch the lives of many more women. She believes that the Foundation has really shown her the way from Darkness to Light. | | |

Background:
Life was a bed of roses for Shubhangi Rohatgi who lived a life of love and protection until that black day in 2004 when her father suffered brain stroke and collapsed. The jolt was big enough to ruin her life. With him went away all her strength and courage. Her protective covering had been torn away and she was out in the world in all the nakedness of her weak soul. It was a disaster for her mother who was a homemaker and her younger brother who was still in school. Being the eldest child in the family, it was her duty to keep the family apiece, but what could she have done when she herself was shattered from deep within.
Her Story:
She had just taken the exams of B.Ed and wanted to get a job to help her family meet ends. But because of lack of confidence and shattered spirit, she never managed to get through any interview. On being constantly persuaded by her mother she joined M.Sc and started giving tuitions at home. But the jest to conquer the life was missing. She cursed her ill-fate to have had brought her the bad days.
It was one of those days when she received an interview call from Fair n Lovely Foundation for the post graduate scholarship, about which she had almost forgotten. She was amazed to have been selected.
There were better days waiting for Shubhangi. She was chosen as the scholarship winners in year 2004. She was overwhelmed. It dawned that her battle with life had not ended yet and she can still fight for herself. Backed with such a strong motivation she started afresh. The hard work finally paid off, she cleared her M.Sc with a remarkable score of 80% marks, and later she got a respectable job offer also.
Current Scenario
For past 2 years Shubhangi has been working with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and leading an independent life, all by herself. The meek girl, who was scared even to face the world, has metamorphosised into a bold, strong and courageous person who is ever ready to challenge destiny. Background:
Everyone has one cherished moment in their lives which remains ingrained in their memory for a long time. With Ramya Dass it was no different. It was the day when she won the Fair and Lovely Scholarship. Ramya was pursuing her Msc. Integrated IT (5 years) from Anna University Chennai and she had applied for a bank loan which was getting delayed and she needed money urgently in order to pay up her fees and hence complete her course without any problem.
Her Story:
But life was not easy for her till the time the Fair and Lovely Scholarships came into the picture. Ramya saw the advertisement for Fair & Lovely Foundation Scholarship and applied for it. After a personal interview with Fair & Lovely panel, she was awarded with the Scholarship.
They held a big function in The Oberoi Mumbai and she was awarded scholarship from the chief guest and her only inspiration, Kiran Bedi. She still gets overwhelmed whenever she recalls the moment. She received Fair & Lovely Foundation Scholarship during her 3rd and 4th year of graduation in the year 2004 and 2005 respectively. She is proud to share that she was a First rank holder and a Gold Medalist in her graduation.
Current Scenario
Currently Ramya is working for Amazon.com as Software Development Engineer.

Background:
Kavita Dewangan hails from a lower middle class family with her father who is a tailor and sole earning member. However he has not been able to work efficiently because of his diabetes. Kavita is from Chattisgarh, and was facing a lot of trouble with regards to her education.
Kavita has completed her schooling from a ‘school for the needy’ as she has never wanted her father to borrow money for her education. She has been determinedly struggling to complete her education despite severe discouragement from relatives who think she was just wasting money.

At this juncture of life, where Kavita was totally discouraged and was facing one of the most difficult times of her life, she came across Fair and Lovely Scholarships. Background:
Meenakshi Mathur is a young girl with big dreams in her eyes. She is a very vibrant and hardworking girl from Delhi, Haryana whose father is a government employee working for the national sample survey and her mother is a teacher.
Due to financial constraints in the family some years back, Meenakshi was forced to rethink not only about her career options but also whether or not to pursue to her education. But she was not the one to give up and succumb to destiny. She decided to fight her fate and around the same time she came across the Fair and Lovely Scholarships.

She applied for the Fair and Lovely Scholarships in 2007. When she realised that she was one of the FAL Winners she was overwhelmed. She could see the road wide open in front of her and she knew that Fair and Lovely Foundation had finally given her the pathway to achieve her goals.

Background:
Nandini Chandra of is just 17years old but mature enough to understand life – Good, bad and ugly. Loss of her father at a tender age of 14 was enough for young Nandini to break her spirits. Young Nandani had never realised what it would be to prove herself as the eldest in the family taking care of the younger ones. The loss of her father was a huge setback for her and her family. Nandani was completely disillusioned.

She is being looked after by her paternal grandparents, with the only source of income being her 77 old grand father’s investments and savings. The young girl had seen a lot in life and was continuously fighting to find a solution to a difficult life. But the never dying attitude is keeping her going. This young lady has chosen an offbeat career in film making and intends to become a feature film director. Sameena Banu a young and ambitious girl’s story begins with an alcoholic father. Life of Pallapothu Naga Sandhya Rani, a 22 year old girl from Prakasam District (Andhra Pradesh) has not been a smooth journey. Her father was physically handicapped and was facing a broken marriage, hence was in no position to support her education due to financial crisis. Her sister was forced to discontinue her studies due to the economic problems in the family. And it looked like that it was Sandhya’s turn to give up her dream of a becoming a software engineer in any MNC after successfully completing her MCA.

But then life took a sudden turn, it was Fair and Lovely Foundation Scholarship which came to her rescue. Scholarship brought a ray of hope in her life. It helped her reconsider not quit her studies but strive to live upto her dreams. She applied for the Fair and Lovely Foundation Scholarship and was elated on realizing that she had won the scholarship. Things were no longer the same. She was now confident and determined to change her destiny. The scholarship not only helped Sandhya to pursue her education but brought smiles to many who came to know about her will and strength to fight all odds.

Sandhya is currently pursuing her MCA degree from St. Ann’s College of P.G. Studies at Chirala. She is in her final year. She received the scholarship for her completing her 1st year of MCA program through Fair and Lovely Foundation in 2007-08. She got 78.8% of marks in same year and stood 2nd in college. She is a participant of the National Level Seminars on IMPACT OF GLOBALIZATION ON WOMEN conducted in Hyderabad Osmania University as a Coordinator. She had actively participated in the event of Paper Presentations in the subject of NANOTECHNOLOGY-TREATMENT FOR CANCER at V.R.Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada. Sandhya bags third position in that event. She feels very obliged to the Fair & Lovely Foundations Scholarship which has helped her immensely and MADE HER DREAMS COME TRUE. | | |

Shiney Mary Matthew’s life revolves around science and research. She has been a brilliant student, proving her mettle in the best of colleges and always been in the top five positions throughout. She is an excellent student and totally believes in living upto her dreams.
Shiney from Mumbai, Maharshtra has worked as a science researcher and also as a coordinator of biotechnology at the National College, Mumbai.
It was overwhelming to hear that Shiney wished to work in a research to find a drug which can cure cancer at an affordable price. However her family’s weak economic status was becoming a huge barrier to ambitious plan. All she needed was a financial support in order to complete her course. There was definitely no lack in this aspiring and hardworking heart.

Shrimanti Babaso Shedbale, a young girl from Mumbai is a daughter of a poor farmer. The only means of a meagre income of the family comes from one acre of land which had never been sufficient to support them. Shrimanti was forced to almost give up on her dreams – a simple dream to grow as an independent woman and help her family meet ends.
Shrimanti had been an excellent student. Both Shrimanti and her sister, who is a gold medallist, are good in their studies but their financial background was the only constraint to their ambitious career. But Shrimanti did not subdue to fate, she fought all odds to achieve her dreams.

Shrimanti always wanted to get a B.Ed. degree and get to teaching the students in her village. Fair and Lovely Foundation Scholarship came as a rescue to her at this time.

A physically challenged Sravanthi Chandragiri decided to study medicine when she realized that it was because of the doctor’s fault that she became Polio affected and now she will never able to live a normal life. Sravanthi decided to take up this profession in order to serve the economically unsound people of the society, as she herself hailed from a small place in Andhra Pradesh, Warangal. She wanted to become a doctor in order to serve the society and be great help to the economically challenged people. Hence she wished to be a government doctor and serve the needy.
Her Story:
The desire and ambition of becoming a doctor was very uncertain due to the economic constraints and financial problems which her family was placing .She wanted to support her family and fulfill her dream which seemed difficult because of the financial constraints. Then she came across the Fair and Lovely Scholarships while going through the newspaper.
Sravanthi applied for the scholarship and was very elated and amazed on learning of her win.
She considers that day when she was declared winner of the scholarship the best day of her life. Sravanthi has never let her physical disability come in way of her dreams and Fair and Lovely Scholarship provided her the platform in order to live upto her dreams.
Current Scenario
Sravanthi is presently pursuing her MBBS and is planning to become a diligent doctor after the completion of her course.
